Vacation

Decided to take the week off. Nothing good came out. Plus Prince died. WTF? Next week in his honor, I will finally sit down and listen to 1999 all the way through and review that. Peace out, go CAVS!

(2016) John Carpenter - Lost Themes II

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Anyone that knows me, knows that I have a HUGE love for classical, avant garde, movie scores & instrumental music. So when I see my main man John Carpenter is releasing another album of lost themes, i'm all over it. He's definitely one of my favorite modern composers and directors and I absolutely LOVE just about anything he's involved in. This is the guy that brought us, HALLOWEEN, ESCAPE FROM LA, THE THING, THEY LIVE & BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, amongst many others! So yeah, I get a little TREMENDOUSLY, excited. So without further ado... let's break it down.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - Distant Dream

This song starts off rather violently. There's no building it up at all. It's right into it. IMMEDIATELY it begins to sound like something from one of his movies. Awesome way to start this album. I have always wondered if he plays all of the instruments he composes and records. If so, that's freaking awesome. I would LOVE to own a keyboard as awesome as this one. Very cool stuff right here.

5/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 2 - White Pulse

Definitely very Poltergeist meets Halloween right from the rip. I hate that movie scorers don't get the credit they deserve. Most of us get so focused watching the movie that we never pay attention to the subtle music that lingers in the background. That's why Mr. Carpenter is different. He creates an inescapable mood, that is ALWAYS memorable. Think about it, EVERYBODY knows the Halloween theme song.

5/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 3 - Persia Rising

I'll tell you what. John Carpenter could release a 1,000 albums of his music and each one would be just as good, if not better than the last. This song once again is nothing short of amazing. The etheralness to his music always creates a landscape that can take you into his universe every time. That is both scary and thrilling at the same time.

4/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 4 - Angel's Asylum

I love how spaced out all of these pieces have sounded so far. They definitely have that "memorable" quality to them. It's a shame he didn't use any of these in any of his movies. All of these pieces would have translated to film very well. The ending of this song is AWESOME by the way. Trust me.

5/5

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 5 - Hofner Dawn

Ok, we finally come to a piece I don't dig a lot. I guess i'm more of a fan for his darker stuff. This is too 16 candles for me. Haha. It's not bad, just not one of the better tracks.

2.5/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - Windy Death

This one started out a little "meh" but slowly builds into something quite a bit cooler. Definitely has a ending credits kinda feel to it. This piece would work great in a lifetime movie.

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 7 - Dark Blues "Kurt Russell"

DEFINITELY would have been perfect in one of the "Escape" movies. This is pretty much how I tell a good Kurt Russell movie from a bad one... (Excluding Overboard, cause that shit was AWESOME). All you have to do is match this kind of music to him and you know the movie will be great. Period. This song has Kurt Russell written all over it, so I am therefore changing the name of this piece to "Kurt Russell". You're welcome John Carpenter.

5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 8 - Virtual Survivor

So far, this has been wayyyyyy better than his last "Lost Themes" album. Much, much more of the "memorable" factor. I saw he is going to do a tour this year. A MOTHER #$%&@! TOUR!!! I can't go, but GD I wish I could. I wish I could...

3/5 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - Bela Lugosi

This track most definitely has a Dracula kind of feel to it. I think by naming it, "Bela Lugosi" he hit it on the nail perfectly. Those strings are freaking nasty as fuck! This piece is one of the better tracks fo sho!

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 10 - Last Sunrise

This is the kind of music you would hear in a paranormal movie while someone is investigating something. AS a matter of fact, try that to see if i'm right. Find this song and play it over someone investigating. I bet it works everytime. =0)

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 11 - Utopian Facade

I would like to see someone re-score the original "Neverending Story" movie with John Carpenter music. I wonder how hard that would be to get the music out of movies and then re-score them. I could definitely see this being the music being played on the way to the Ivory Tower.

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 12 - Real Xeno

Not quite the ending I was looking for, but nevertheless, awesome indeed. John Carpenter is THE MAN!

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overall - 47/60

Overall, this was a AWESOME album put out by an ALL-TIME legend. Easily one of the greatest composers of our time, this album was AWESOME. Willowbee, out.

(2016) Deftones - Gore

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

It's always interesting to catch up with bands from your past and see what they're doing nowadays. I'll be honest, I wasn't exposed much to the Deftones until around the "White Pony" era. That's the album I compare them too. "Around The Fur and Adrenaline" were great albums as well, but there was just something great about "White Pony". So here we are, 15 years and a couple of shitty albums later. Can they get it back? Let's find out!
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - Prayers / Triangles

My first impression of this song was, "meh". As I am listening to it now for a 5th time, it really, really grows on you. So far, so good. I really like the guitar work and it's good to hear Chino still growing away. This song starts out a little trippy, kind of "Team Sleep"ish, but quickly sounds like a Deftones song. Very cool. I am impressed.

4/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 2 - Acid Hologram

Once again, after the 5th listen, this song is quickly growing on me as well. It's got the Deftones signature sound and the trippyness of a Tool song. It's very cool to hear them getting back to their "White Pony" sound. So far this album definitely sounds like it's going to get even better. I have missed the Deftones!

4/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 3 - Doomed User

This is definitely the heaviest song so far. Chino screams most of the verses leading into the choruses which are very cool. This is one of those songs that will get stuck in your head after a couple of listens. The breakdown in this song is absolutely beautiful. If your a selective song kinda listener, start here.

4/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 4 - Geometric Headdress

The one thing I will say about these songs so far is their memorability. It is AMAZING to hear the Deftones bring their all and create something this AWESOME, this late in their career. Only time will tell if they will make it as long as the Rolling Stones & The Red Hot Chili Peppers, but this kind of an album is a good indicator that we'll be enjoying these guys for many years to come! Best song so far!

5/5

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 5 - Hearts / Wires

Ok so FINALLY we have a contender for album of the year! All of these songs have been EXTREMELY memorable and after 5 listens, it quickly becomes evident that this may indeed be just as good, if not better than "White Pony". This song is no exception. Chino's voice is ON POINT. The creativity on this album is off the charts! So far this album has been "White Pony", meets "De-Loused In The Comatorium" meets "Mer De Noms".

5/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - Pittura Infamante

There was a lot of new music that came out this week. WAYYYY more so than usual. Smile Empty Soul released an EP which was excellent. It only had 6 songs though or that would have been my choice. IT IS AMAZING BY THE WAY!!! However, this album was completely unexpected and has completely blown me away. I have been pleasantly shocked listening to this album so much, that i'm now on my 5th listen through!

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 7 - Xenon

It is now safe to say this album is JUST AS GOOD AS "WHITE PONY"! Yeah, I said it. This is ESSENTIAL Deftones. These songs are nothing but 4's and 5's. From this point on this album will be my second favorite album of theirs with constant possibility of becoming number 1. This album is THAT good. I only can dream that Incubus' outing later this year will be just as good. I did see they played "Calgone" with Ben Kenney in Mexico. THAT was breathtaking as well.

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 8 - (L)mirl

This album has not disappointed once. That's highly unusual for me with a Deftones album. Even "White Pony" had a couple of "mehs". So far, this album has been damn well near perfect. The guitar work and drumming on this album have been awesome and when Chino screams in this song, it takes me back.

4/5 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - Gore

As we near the end of this album and reach the title track, "Gore", I would already give this album a 4/5 no matter what happens from here on out. They could cover "MmmBop" and i'd be cool with it. Actually... that would probably be pretty good! This song is another one of those that showcase the creativity put into this album. I am blown away! Sorry Rocket Summer... there might be a new number one for 2016 in town! The screams on the end of this song are ridiculously awesome. BEST TRACK.

5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 10 - Phantom Bride

I am floored... This album has been nothing short of a masterpiece. I will be listening to this album for many years to come. This is a defining decade kinda album. One of those ones that will never, ever get the kind of credit it deserves. This is easily one of the best 2010's albums. This is one of the better songs and when the ending comes in it just get's that much better. =0O

5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 11 - Rubicon

So now at the last track it has become evident that The Deftones have created their most impressive work to date. This is the kind of album that will inspire thousands of kids to go out and start a band. I've never been a HUGE Deftones fan, but they have completely won me over with this album. WOW.

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overall - 48/55

Overall, we finally have a contender for album of the year. This one has my bet so far. This is the kind of album that should win TONS of awards, but never will. Fuck Taylor Swift and her illuminati contemporaries. This album is the real deal. A new one to place in my top 100. It's THAT good. Willowbee, out.

(2016) Weezer - The White Album

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Alright! Finally an album by a band we all know and love, WEEZER!!! Weezer is one of those bands that are going to be around for a long time. Beginning in the 90's, it is definitely nice to see them still around. So without further ado... The White Album.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - California Kids

From the first notes it becomes evident that Weezer has fallen back into place continuing the greatness that followed them in the 90's. It definitely has a Blue Album feel to it that somewhat lingers with a Pinkerton vibe. I have always loved Weezer's guitar solo's and this one is no different. Another good song from a great band.

3.5/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 2 - Wind In Our Sail

Track 2 is very piano driven. Almost sounds like a Twenty One Pilots song with Rivers Cuomo singing. Not as strong as the first track, this track is still good. So far this is not the album i've been expecting from them.

2.5/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 3 - Thank God For Girls

This song doesn't really fit the whole "Weezer" mold. This track kinda stands alone in their huge catalog of hits. It's nice to hear after all of these years, they still have surprises left up their sleeves. You can always tell a good band from a bad one by the way they move around different genres and styles.

3/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 4 - (Girl We Got A) Good Thing

You can definitely hear Rivers flexing his Beach Boys style on this beginning of this track. This one sounds albums like a Green Album b-side. This is probably my favorite track so far on this album.

4/5

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 5 - Do You Wanna Get High?

Well, I LOVE THE TITLE. That aside, this is definitely my favorite song. This song has the power to become one of your favorite Weezer songs. It has the classic vibe that Weezer has crafted so well. This song is top notch Weezer.

5/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - King Of The World

This album has definitely been Weezer so far. It is safe to say that this is not the album I have been expecting from them. Their last release, "Everything Will Be Alright In The End" was very good. But this is definitely better overall. It's nice to hear them getting back to their roots. Perhaps the next album, will be the one.

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 7 - Summer Elaine And Drunk Dori

The beauty of Weezer has always lied in their simplicity. This song is a perfect example of how they are still holding onto that fact and taking full advantage of it. Weezer has been one of my favorite bands for a long time, so it's nice to hear them getting back to this.

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 8 - L.A. Girlz

So far, i'm not completely, overly impressed. It's been typical Weezer and I guess that I was hoping for another Blue album. It becomes incredibly hard for a band to equal the success they had with their best album. Bands like Incubus, Hoobastank & Metallica amongst others have fallen into this rut as well.

3/5 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - Jacked Up

One cool thing I will say about Rivers. After all these years, his voice has not changed a bit. It is still the exact same signature Rivers voice that we fell in love with on the Blue Album. Weezer has come a long way since those days.

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 10 - Endless Bummer

This song kind of disappoints me. I can remember a time when Weezer would go out with a bang on their albums. This is just not the ending I hoped for. I'm sure i'm not the only one who remembers the 8 minute track, "Only In Dreams". Oh well, another decent offering from a play it safe band.

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overall - 33/50

Overall, this album lies somewhere between the Blue Album and the Green Album. It's not going to win any awards, but there's definitely a few tracks worth adding to your favorite Weezer playlist. Willowbee, out.

(2016) Kung Fu - Joyride

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

So this week i'm in the mood for something different. There hasn't been too much I would consider "great" yet this year so far. There has only been 1 truly GREAT album and maybe 2 other albums out of the others and a handful of songs from the rest. I will tell you one thing. I am really, really happy I took the time to get to know The Rocket Summers new album. That shit is dope as fuck. This week, there was a lot to choose from, but ultimately I heard all of them out for a track or two and finally decided on this band... KUNG-FU. The name was cool and after watching a video or two on youtube, I decided to that THIS was the album for this week.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - Daddy O

The first track brings the funk! It reminds me of old 70's funk bands like Parliment. This song is really good and it definitely has a feel good 70's vibe to it. It's hard to believe that this is a new song. These guys definitely know the genre and deliver perfectly on their opening track.

3.5/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 2 - Chin Music

Track 2 is mostly instrumental. It has a 70's cop show kinda, pumping vibe to it. I could definitely see mustashed cops chasing down bad guys while this song plays in the background. The sax player is AMAZING. It's official. This band is awesome.

3.5/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 3 - Vroom

This track has a very cool vibe to it. It is a lot like the last track and has an old school Incubus playing as the Tonight Show band kind of vibe to it. One thing I like about this band already is how long these tracks are. This one is 8:01 long!!! Get your attention span ready! It will be well worth it.

3.5/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 4 - Joyride

This song is AWESOME! It has a 70's vibe to it and sounds like it could have been on a movie soundtrack in the 80's like Ghostbusters. This song just makes you want to get the fuck down and boogie all night long. This is definitely a great starting point!

4/5

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 5 - Speed Bump Of Your Love

This might be the best song overall of 2016! This song is funky in all the right ways and really delivers. This is the stand out track on here and sounds like something you'd see the Harlem Globetrotters dunking to. If you like funk, it doesn't get much better than this.

5/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - Prime Time Rib

So far I haven't heard a bad track on this album. This is easily the best funk album i've heard in a long time. Any song that's about ribs is ok with me. Not too much lyrically here, but with this band, that's just fine.

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 7 - The Getdown

This is the kind of music that puts you in a good mood. Another mostly instrumental track, I will say one thing... if funky, instrumental, 6 minute plus songs are not your thing, this band is not for you. However, if it is... you are in for a treat!

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 8 - Gold Coast

Musically, this is one of the best bands i've heard in awhile. It's rare for me to find a band I like without any vocals for the most part. But this band not only impressed me, they made me a fan for life.

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - Samurai

This last track has a very cool feel to it. It is also the longest track on this album at 8:53! This band has been phenomenal and it makes me sad that it's over. That;s my only beef, 9 tracks was not near enough.

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overall - 34/45

Overall, this album was GREAT! I really enjoyed listening to something different for a change. Willowbee, out.

(2016) The Word Alive - Dark Matter

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Wow, almost 3 months into 2016 already. Time really flies too fast, doesn't it? Well, with that time flying by, it leads us to my next review! This week I will be checking out, The Word Alive's new album, "Dark Matter". Let's go!
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - Dreamer

The first track is a tad slow and emo, but towards the end their are some subtle screams that suggest they're about to get a lot heavier. I like this one even though it's slow and emo. You can definitely hear this band clicking on all cylinders. If this is any indication to how the rest of this album will play out, I think I will be pretty happy.

2.5/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 2 - Trapped

Track 2 reminds me of the music I loved in the late 90's. The screamer is spot on. The emo guy actually sounds a little better on this track as well. I really like this one. Very heavy and the music behind the screams is perfect. This band is actually really good! The breakdown in this song is ridiculously cool and for that, this song gets a 4/5.

4/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 3 - Face To Face

Ok, so maybe the emo guy isn't all too emo afterall. He actually has a pretty good voice and the he definitely compliments the singer. This song is a little slower, but thank god they don't shy away from the screamer. My wife heard a couple of these songs and immediately compared them to Linkin Park. I can hear that a little. Overall, they are impressive! With so many groups out there claiming to be post-hardcore or post-punk, these guys are actually worthy of that title.

3.5/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 4 - Sellout

This screamer is... simply put, AWESOME. He definitely shows off his abilities in this song. This is definitely one of my new favorite heavier bands. These are the kinds of songs that would be cool to listen to driving nowhere with the music blaring in the middle of the night. A good starry night kinda band. I wish more bands came out like this.

4/5

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 5 - Insane

This I believe is the song my wife heard and compared them to Linkin Park. I most DEFINITELY agree. You can really hear a "Numb" inspiration on this track. That is not always a bad thing though, I hate when people compare bands and then say they stole the others song. Not the case, they simply were inspired by it enough to create their own.

3.5/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - Made This Way

This song kinda reminds of Linkin Park as well. I definitely like this band. They're kind of a heavier version of them without all of the dj, rapping crap. I will say the guitar breakdown in this song is ridiculously awesome! Very cool, very cool indeed.

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 7 - Suffocating

I do not like the vocal effect at the beginning of this song. It quickly bounces out of that though and actually becomes pretty enjoyable. Not as good as most of the other tracks, this one still definitely holds its own! Pretty good! I really have liked this album so far.

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 8 - Piece Of Me

This song is weird. It has too much space. I think they went a little overboard with the reverb on this one. It's not bad, but not one of the better tracks on this album. Go figure... no screaming. Funny I used to pretty much hate music that screamed, but as I have gotten older I have grown this strange affinity towards it.

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - Branded

I really like the tempo this song starts with. I am now realizing that the singer may actually be the screamer as well. Which is pretty cool. Definitely sounds pretty versatile. His scream really is pretty awesome. It's like a mix of Cisco Miranda and Daryl Palumbo. Different, yet still somehow familiar.

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 10 - Grunge

This song may be the best track on this album and the breakdown is PERFECT!!! If you listen to any songs on this album, make it this one. This one should be the leading single, but it probably won't be.

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 11 - Dark Matter

This song isn't too bad. It's not the shining moment on this album, but nevertheless it is a nice filler track. The screams towards the end are definitely interesting. As Peyton Manning would say, "I like it".

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 12 - Oxy

I was hoping for something a little heavier closing out this album, but it hasn't been bad, so i'm not going to complain. It has been pretty enjoyable actually.

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overall - 42/60

Overall, this album was pretty good. If you decide to buy it, it will be money well spent. Willowbee, out.

(2016) Outline In Color - Struggle

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

So needless to say, The Rocket Summer's, Zoetic has my current vote for album of the year. I have bumped that shit all week. This week i'm going to listen and review something a tad bit heavier. Outline In Color's, Struggle. Let's take a listen!
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - Paradise Is Burning

It's not bad so far. I kinda get a "Panic At The Disco" vibe from them. I love the part with the soft heavy screaming buried in the background. If this is the set up for this album, I may just like the direction they take it. Probably not though. These kinds of albums can definitely go sour real quick. This song was awesome!

4/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 2 - Dead Gardens

Way heavier than what I expected. I'll admit, I like it, but I don't. The screaming is on point but the chorus sounds a little too Silverstein meets Hawthorne Heights for me. I do love the italian feel towards the end of the song. Overall, not bad.

2/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 3 - Eat Your Heart Out

This band definitely likes to scream. If they would just ditch this stupid emo singer I think they could be an awesome band. This song is pretty cool but that guy really annoys me. The screamer is actually pretty good.

2/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 4 - Alive

The singer makes these songs sound very repetitive. What happened to tracks like the first one? This album started off with so much promise but is losing ground very quickly with me. This isn't post-hardcore like advertised at all, this is more emo-bullshit and that isn't fair to this excellent screamer at all.

2/5

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 5 - The Way The World Turns

While the screamer is the only thing saving this band from deletion, he is starting to over stay his welcome on these tracks. I guess it's a hard balancing act with a singer as shitty as this one.

2/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - Silencers

I really expected a lot more from this band. So far I am extremely disappointed that I picked this one. They sound like a bad copy of every single other hardcore/emo band out there. So far, I do not dig this album at all. I guess this song isn't the worst one on the album though. The outro riffing is pretty cool actually.

2/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 7 - Happy Endings

This band isn't going to be breaking any serious ground with this album. Halfway through and all I can think about is how much I wanted to hear a quality heavy album. But alas, I am left with this shell of a good album.

2/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 8 - The Monster In The Mirror

These songs all sound repetitive and uninspired. Their singer really is bad. He just has one of those voices that fit the mold for this kind of music. It seems like they only shine when they break into instrumental parts.

2/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - My Other Car Is A Time Machine II

I can remember a time when listening to a new album was an event. It's become a rarity to find excellence and it usually only flashes a dozen or so times a year now if that. This is not one of those albums at all. At this point I would be pissed if I would have purchased this on a whim.

2/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 10 - The Calm

For only being 2 minutes long and starting off as an instrumental I definitely thought this was going to be a lot slower. Nope, actually it is one of the more decent songs on this album. The end reminds me of old Fred Durst screaming. Pretty cool.

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 11 - The Storm

This song the singer is somewhat tolerable. This may be the best track on this album, but that doesn't say a lot. It has been a very mediocre album and most definitely not worth the money or time involved to listen.

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 12 - Something We Can Dance To

This may be the worst track on this album. The singer becomes even more annoying and this song really brings that out a lot more. I will probably never listen to this band again after this.

2/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 13 - From The Bottom Of My Black Heart

Well with one track left on this album, the only thing that comes to mind is, thank god! This album has been more of a chore than anything this week. That is never a good sign, ever.

2/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 14 - I Will Struggle

This is the worst album this year. It may even be worse than, WWE's Adelita's Way. Not impressed, Not a fan.

2/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overall - 32/70

Overall, crap. Completely and without a doubt. Willowbee, out.

(2016) The Rocket Summer - Zoetic

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

So last week I threw around the idea of reviewing this one. I changed my mind only to regret it! I have been listening to a couple of the songs on this album non-stop since then and they really are catchy and surprisingly pretty good! With that being said, let's sit down and check it out in it's entirety!
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - Cold War

I'll admit... this song will get STUCK in your head. It's extremely catchy and reminiscent of old Michael Jackson. It has a power to it and demands your attention. This will probably never get the play that it deserves so just take my word for it and at least youtube this guy. His older stuff was a little... juvenile, but this new cd really shows what he has to offer and the direction he is going in.

4/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 2 - Same Air

This track may even be catchier than the first! I definitely understand why i've never heard of the guy before, but nevertheless I am happy I took the time to listen to at least the first 2 tracks on this album. You might eventually hear one of these songs on your local pop station or MTV, but like I said, probably not. This one even has a music video!

4/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 3 - UNI

While this track isn't as strong as the first two, this one is still pretty good. I really am digging this guys sound and he truly is completely different from all of the other shitty bands making their rounds at the moment. It's always fun to hear something fresh and this album hit that on the button.

3.5/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 4 - Help Me Out

This track isn't going to hit well with everyone, but it's not bad. It's just not near as good as the first 3 tracks on this album. It reminds me of the older tracks I listened to and those weren't nearly as developed and thought out as the first three tracks.

3/5

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 5 - Get Over It

I have really enjoyed listening to this album and it has instantly become a guilty pleasure kind of album. I really hear a LOT of Michael Jackson and Prince influence and it's cool to hear the guy scream a little bit. It's very cool that he also writes, performs, records and produces his own music.

3.5/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - White Fireworks

So at the halfway point it is becoming clearly evident that this guy really has his own style and for him, it's definitely working out to his advantage. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any album this is comparable to. These days, that should be an achievement worth some kind of award!

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 7 - You Are, You Are

The intro to this song is very, very cool. This guy has a 80's Michael Jackson vibe to him. I'll be honest, only listening to this album 2 or 3 times really won't do it justice. You can tell it's pretty good, but this is a multiple listens kind of album. I really do like it though.

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 8 - FL, CA

This might not sound like a heavy song but this is probably one of the heaviest songs he has to offer and yes, once again, extremely catchy! You can definitely tell this guy is a seasoned musician that has been doing this for a long time. His songs are very precisely put together and never leave you with the feeling that something is missing.

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - Rule Of Thirds Kind Of Life

This song is definitely the heaviest and once again, one of the catchiest. There is actually some screaming on this one. His Prince side comes out a lot more on this track and it quickly becomes a power-pop masterpiece. A lot of people are going to HATE this album, but those of you who take the time to listen to it more than once, will quickly be rewarded with one of the best albums of 2016 so far.

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 10 - Sharks

This is another one of those songs that are very well written. I will give The Rocket Summer this... they are EXTREMELY catchy. Be prepared to learn the lyrics and hear these songs in your sleep. This album is really, really good.

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 11 - Emergency Landings

I wish he would have closed with a stronger song, but I am not disappointed at all. This album definitely went well beyond my expectations and made me an instant fan. There are definitely some interesting melodies on this track that make it well worth listening to.

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overall - 39.5/55

Overall, this album has made me a fan of The Rocket Summer. Definitely worth owning a copy and supporting a great musician. This is easily one of the better albums of 2016. I should have listened to it last week... OH YEAH! Adelita's Way... TOTALLY a WWE band, I googled it. =0) Willowbee, out.

(2016) Adelita's Way - Getaway

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Adelita's Way is another one of those bands that you've heard of, but never heard. Myself included. Well, today I take a listen to their new album, "Getaway" and tell you what I think about it, track by track! So let's do it!
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - Bad Reputation

It's not bad, not great. They kind of remind me of Nickleback so that's against them already. I'll admit, I kinda like it. I always have loved the "F" bomb in songs for some reason and there's a couple of those in there. I expected a lot of screaming, but got none and for that, this song is just o.k.

2.5/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 2 - Get Away

The second track is a little more of the same. So far, this is sounding like one of those cd's I might listen to for a month and then be tired with it. It seems too safe and copied. I like it, but it could get old quick.

2.5/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 3 - The Good Die Young

I'm not impressed with this band so far. They come off as trying too hard. This song is more of the same, the singer sound is too generic. However, the guitarist is pretty impressive. Unfortunately, that combination rarely makes for a great album.

2/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 4 - Low

I really just can't get into this band. Their name was cool, the cover looked cool, the style of music was right up my alley. But they sound wayyyyyy to generic and over hyped. This song is the worst so far.

1/5

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 5 - Put You In Place

I like the intro so far, but once the song kicks in, i'm almost positive the singer will screw it up. Yep. I think that's it. I absolutely do not like this singer. The band is GREAT, but the singer's gotta go. He makes them sound like a WWE intro band. Which, they probably are. I'll have to Google that.

1/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - I Get Around

This album is hard to listen to. This is becoming one of those bands that you'll cringe after hearing them. I honestly don't know how they ever got signed. Funny how that works. One band will be incredibly talented only to go unnoticed forever and then shit bands like this get signed. I guess that's the way of the world. People LOVE garbage.

1/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 7 - Filthy Garbage

If you're still reading the review at this point, good for you! This has been the worst album of 2016 so far in my opinion. I'll tell you what though, WWE fans are gonna LOVE them and this garbage album! All of these songs sound the same and while sometimes that can be a good thing, in this case, it is not.

1/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 8 - Harbour The Fugitive

This song isn't horrible. A lot better than the last 5 tracks. But still nevertheless, it isn't a very good album at all. I honestly expected a lot more than what i'm hearing.

2/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - Sometimes You're Meant To Get Used

I give up. This is one of my new, least favorite albums of all time. At the end of the year if I make a "worst of" list, this will surely be towards the top. Even Nickleback sounds like a nice escape from these guys and I almost HATE Nickleback. Here's a better analogy for you. CREED would sound as good as Metallica in comparison to these guys.

1/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 10 - Shame

I hope after my review these guys take my advice and find a new singer. This one is horrible. This crappy album makes me want to troll their Youtube page and see all of the comments of people raving over how great they are, only to blast them for their horrible taste in music. But that's not my style and to each their own.

1/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 11 - Deserve This

It's official... this band SUCKS. I Guarantee they have something to do with the WWE. Those are definitely the kind of people who will like this album. Yeah, i'm calling you hillbillies out. If you like this band, i'd be willing to bet you're a WWE fan as well.

1/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overall - 16/55

Overall, this was one of the worst rock albums i've ever heard. I really didn't enjoy this at all. I was going to review "The Rocket Summer". I bet that would have been 5,000 times better than this shitty album. My advice, don't buy it or even download it unless you're a WWE fan... and then and only then will you like this. Willowbee, out.

(2016) Nevermen - Nevermen

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Somehow this album seemed to slip right past me! I had heard one track off of it and was intrigued but then, yesterday I realized it had come out already! So a couple of weeks late but i'm really excited about this one. Whenever Mike Patton is attached to a project, it's usually at LEAST worth listening to once. So here we go!
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - Dark Ear

So this song starts with a TON of noise, but it's a good noise. After the song kicks in, it quickly becomes evident that this is going to be interesting. It appears as though all 3 musicians involved are simultaneously rapping with each other, which makes for something new and fresh. It's weird hearing these 3 musicians meld together, but it strangely turns out amazing. I really like this track alot. Favorited and repeating.

4/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 2 - Treat Em Right

The second track isn't nearly as exciting as the first. It still isn't bad, but it lacks the creativity that "Dark Ear" had. It gets a little repetitive at times and the chorus is so annoying, it becomes catchy. "Treat em like a prostitute." That line will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. That I promise you.

2.5/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 3 - Wrong Animal Right Trap

So far I have mixed feelings about this album. I really liked the first track, the second track was just ok and this track just isn't doing it. So far there hasn't been enough "Signature Patton" for me to be really digging this as much as I thought I would.

2/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 4 - Tough Towns

This track almost comes off like an Andy Samberg SNL skit at first. I'm really starting to be disappointed in this album as a whole. It's too repetitive and not there's not enough Patton. This all seems so rushed and not very well thought out. The funny thing is, I think they've been working on this album for like 10 years. It definitely hasn't showed yet.

2/5

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 5 - Hate On

Now, this song is good. This is the track I heard a couple of months back that made me excited to hear this album in the first place. Hopefully from here on out it improves. This album has been a major disappointment so far. It is never a good sign when only 2 out of the first 5 songs are good. I definitely like this track though. Favorited.

4/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - Mr. Mistake

I saw that this is the lead single on this wreck of an album. This song could go either way, but the more i'm listening, the more I do like this track too. Ok, at least we're making some progress now. 3 out of 6 isn't bad! I will say this... this album is ALL OVER THE PLACE. There is a lot going on on every single track so it is slightly unfair to listen once and dismiss it. This is the type of album that deserves a couple of listens to really get a grasp of what all is going on.

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 7 - Shellshot

I really like the intro and then it gets nuts again. If I had to describe this album with one word so far, that would be it... "nuts". It kind of sounds like a bunch of schizos got together and made an album. It has that kind of feel to it. You'll be listening to something getting cool and then all of a sudden you get yelled at. Very unpredictable. The break in this song is AMAZING. Favorited. Now we're getting there...

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 8 - At Your Service

With 3 tracks left, I honestly don't know what to expect next. This is one of those albums that could go either way. Luckily it has been getting better and better since track 4. There has been more Patton and that always make an album better. I really, really like this song too. Favorited. Part of it sounds like an Insane Clown Posse song though. Very dark carnival meets rap.

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - Non Babylon

Ok, this shit is weird. It's like spoken word with three people filling in every other word. I have definitely heard some stuff on this album i've never heard before. For me, that's crazy. I've heard a LOT of music. We're talking about a guy who's favorite music includes Incubus, Dru Hill, Miles Davis, Tracy Lawrence, Beethoven & Nintendo Music. I've NEVER heard anything like this album. As always, Patton & associates deliver.

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 10 - Fame II The Wreckoning

The final track on this album will either qualify this as an average album or a great one. This track is so far, the lightest track on the album and not quite the track I was hoping to hear to round out this album. The latter half of this track makes it one worth hearing. Not bad, not bad at all.

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overall - 33/50

Overall, this wasn't the album I was hoping to hear. But nevertheless, worth the listen. I could see it growing on me in the coming months. There are definitely a few gems on this one. Willowbee out.

(2016) Lacey Sturm - Life Screams

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

So the only thing I know about Lacey Sturm is that she was the lead singer of the band Flyleaf. I liked them and all so I have to admit, it will be interesting to hear her debut solo album. I have already heard the leading single, "Impossible" and was impressed so it should be good. Here we go!

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - Impossible

This song is pretty damn good. It sounds a lot like Flyleaf so it's going to be hard to not think of this as just another Flyleaf album. Nevertheless, it is very good and a perfect intro track to her first solo album. Let's hope it doesn't go downhill from here. Expect this on the radio soon, if it's not already there.

4/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 2 - The Soldier

A little lighter than the first track to start off, this one has a haunting feel to the beginning. It quickly gets a little heavier and once again, sounds a LOT like Flyleaf. This song isn't quite as good as the first track, but the mini guitar solo is definitely worth the listen. I do like her screams. Much better than many of her contemporaries.

3/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 3 - I'm Not Laughing

I wouldn't be shocked to hear this one as the second single. It has that kinda feel to it. I must say, she IS Flyleaf. I don't think it would matter what band you throw her in, they would instantly sound the same. She just has that voice. To some, that could be a curse, but it works for her. So far this album is pretty good.

3/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 4 - Vanity

This is just a filler track. Voices fighting and yelling, that sorta thing. It's not bad, and parts are actually interesting. Peaking ahead to the next track, I see it's an intro into the next song. So it works. Not bad. Should've combined tracks 4 & 5 together.

2.5/5

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 5 - Rot

Now, this song is good. Really good. Probably the best song on this album, but like I said, should've combined the two tracks. I really enjoy the guitar work on this one. This sounds like an older Flyleaf song. It's a lot heavier musically than the rest of this album has been so far.

4/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - You're Not Alone

I did expect this album to be a little heavier after hearing the intro track, but now halfway through, I see that probably isn't going to happen. Now don't get me wrong... this is going to be one of those "guilty pleasure" kinda albums. The kind you don't want to admit you like, but secretly love it! I won't be buying it anytime soon, but it is definitely going to be worth it for Flyleaf fans.

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 7 - Feels Like Forever

A lot of these songs feel the same. That's my only beef with it. They're pretty good, but they do sound very similar. Once again, that's part of the curse I was talking about earlier. It's all been very good. But seems to be missing something. Maybe she should autotune herself or something. Haha. That may actually be interesting to hear.

2.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 8 - Life Screams

Ok. Here is the title track. It is very slow and poppy. This may be her crossover hit. This is where she wins over the pop crowd and gains a ton of new fans, but alienates the older heavier listeners. Most musicians do this around this point in their careers and it can usually make or break the artist. I loved Hoobastank until they released, "The Reason" and then from that moment on it was all downhill. I foresee this happening the same way for her.

2.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - Faith

I have never been a fan of religious themed songs, so let's hope this isn't one of those. Man... she went all out on this pop-inspired crap on these last 2 songs. I get she's happy now and everything, but geesh. Overdoing it when you're known for screaming can really screw yourself in the end. But hey, at least it wasn't about Jesus. I do like how she has someone singing the background vocals with her towards the end.

2.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 10 - Roxanne (Live)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. This is a interesting cover. I like when musicians take a song and make it their own. This really doesn't sound anything like the original and that's fine. Sting would be proud. She really owned this cover. This is one of those covers that you really do NEED to hear. I think this may be the best track on this album.

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 11 - Run To You

This may be the lightest track on the album and also the saddest. Pretty nice way to end the album but I do wish it was heavier. I hoped for so much more after the intro track.

2.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overall - 33.5/55

Overall, this isn't going to be breaking any sales records anytime soon. There's definitely a couple of really good tracks on here and it's worth a listen for the die-hard Flyleaf fans out there, but don't expect the heaviness that was Flyleaf or you will be sadly disappointed. Willowbee out.

(2016) The Cult - Hidden City

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

I'll be honest. I know very little about, "The Cult". Practically nothing... and that may be a shame. Well, today we may find out a little. I will be listening to their new album, "Hidden City" and letting you know what I think. If I like this one, I may have to go back into their catalog and check some more songs out. So let's get on with it!

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - Dark Energy

The intro sounds good enough. Ian Astbury's vocals are heavily aged however. But it's not bad. It definitely has a "something your dad would listen to" kinda vibe to it. I could see this song being played in a biker bar with a lot going on in the background. It's a little better than I expected. The music is pretty good coming from a bunch of old dudes!

3/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 2 - No Love Lost

This song is not sitting with me as well as the first... at least the beginning didn't that well. When the song kicks in full gear though, it's a little better. I really enjoy the chorus and the guitar solo. The rest of the song is a little too dull for me.

2.5/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 3 - Dance The Night

Once again, the guitarist is really the only thing making this song listenable. I guess I should go back and start listening to some of their older songs before making this statement, but if this is what they've always sounded like, then they are COMPLETELY overrated. No wonder i've never taken the time to listen to them.

2.5/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 4 - In Blood

The band is pretty good as a whole, minus Ian. It sounds as though he holds them all back. Perhaps that's why they never had any huge hits. But then again, i'm sure a few of you absolutely love them... and that to me is unfortunate. I had somewhat high hopes when I hit play on this one, being THE CULT and all. It's a name we've all at least heard, but like me, they fell to deaf ears. Mine are not impressed. The guitarist is the only thing that truly shines in this band.

2.5/5

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 5 - Birds Of Paradise

It's hard for me to figure out why bands like this get signed, where true gems like, "Fingersmith" remain unknowns... I guess it's luck of the draw. This is not a band that will be remembered hundreds of years from now and if they are... SHAME ON YOU FUTURE PEOPLE!!! This music isn't light on the ears at all. The Cult should have stopped awhile back, I feel this album will only hurt the bands legacy.

2.5/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - Hinterland

So far, this album gets harder and harder to listen to as each new track begins. His lyrics linger off of his tongue and not in a good way. Perhaps youth is what makes bands exciting, because this bands time has definitely passed. If it wasn't for their guitarists solos, I would have probably already turned this one off.

2.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 7 - G O A T

I really hope they're not referring to themselves with this song title. However, here is one of those rare songs that are ok... well, at least until Ian starts singing. He literally ruins almost every track on this album and here we are, finally with a song that sounds decent, and then... here he comes in singing and ruining everything.

2.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 8 - Deeply Ordered Chaos

Well, I like the intro... let's see how long before this ones ruined. Ok! If the songs were more like this, i'd dig it. But unfortunately the rest of the album has been shit. I do like this one though. I feel like this might be the only good track on the album. Well... 2 out of 12 aren't bad... well, yeah it is. Hopefully the rest will be decent. HAHAHA. Probably not. This track is the best so far.

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - Avalanche Of Light

Ok, here's another decent track. I guess I may have pulled the trigger on them a little early. But hey, those first songs deserved it! This one is pretty catchy and has a nice head shaking rhythm to it. I would bump this one. So lets say, 3 out of 12. Hey they made it to 25%!

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 10 - Lilies

This song could go either way. I like it! It's funny, it seems like the latter half of this album is actually decent. They should have cut 2 tracks and made it a 10 track album. That would have made it appear to be much better than what it is. But for a bunch of guys in their 60's or 70's, it's not too bad. This songs actually pretty good too!

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 11 - Heathens

These guys really did save their best songs for last! I can't help but wonder if some of these were recorded with a different producer. Half are ok and half just flat out SUCK. Not bad, not great, this song is just ok. At this point though, even a decent song sounds like a masterpiece.

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 12 - Sound And Fury

This song makes me laugh and I don't think that was the intention. Ian's voice sounds kinda funny and out of place on this track. The piano is beautiful and his voice sounds out of tune and almost like he's singing to a different track. You'll get it if you ever listen to it. Meh.

2.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overall - 33.5/60

Overall, not my cup of tea. I'll have to check out some older stuff of theirs before I completely dismiss them. But my opinion. Completely overrated band. Willowbee out.

(2016) Basement - Promise Everything

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

This week we will be looking at Basement's new release, "Promise Everything". I think I have heard of this band before, but perhaps I am mistaken. Either way, it seems like the one to review this week. My first impression comes from the cover. The second is the fact that this album is only 28 minutes long. It seems interesting enough so let's just get on to it!

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - Brother's Keeper

Well, it's not what I expected but in this case, that's a wonderful thing! It kinda has a Sunny Day Real Estate meets Blink 182 meets Weezer kinda vibe to it. I'm digging this song pretty hardcore so far. It sounds like my new favorite album to drive nowhere to! I can already tell i'm going to like, if not LOVE this band by the end of this album. I have already played this song 5 times. It has just the right amount of heaviness and just the right amount of chill. GREAT SONG!

4/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 2 - Hanging Around

This song is just as good as the first! How in the hell did I miss these guys? They sound like a 90's band and seeing how it is now 2016, it's great to hear something like this again! This is the type of song that makes you want to shake your head to the beat. I really can't believe how good this band is! This is already going to be a hands-down candidate for album of the year with me just 2 tracks in!

4/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 3 - Lose Your Grip

Usually when the first 3 songs of an album are good, that's a sure fire way to tell that it's going to be a great album. This song is catchy as fuck and after about 3 listens, you'll already be singing parts of it along with them. So far, this album has been absolutely GREAT! I have not heard a song I didn't LOVE yet. The music is absolutely phenomenal. I may have to rearrange my top 100 list soon. Very soon.

4/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 4 - Aquasun

I absolutely love the harmonics at the beginning of this song. This is already BY FAR the best album of 2016. Every song i've listened to has gotten 4 plays more or each and I RARELY do that with an album right off the bat. I still don't know how these guys slipped past me, but this is the kind of band you want to look up on Wikipedia to find out more about them. After doing so, I never would have guessed they were from England. It is also cool as fuck to see that every member has always been in the band.

4/5

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 5 - Submission

So it's official... this is my new favorite band, minus Twenty One-Pilots who have also made a huge impact on my listening recently. I really like how 90's these guys sound. That makes me incredibly happy! You can hear all of their influences extremely well and it really translates into something special. I feel like I should be able to turn MTV on and see their music video for this song on the tv. I hope these guys hit it big over here. I have a feeling they would resonate very well with people my age longing for another glimpse of their past. The only bad thing I can really say is that there is nothing bad to say at all. Which is pretty good.

4/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - Oversized

So we have hit the half-way point and if anything, I like this band more with every listen. This album is way too short and makes me want to hear more! I love how every song sounds completely different, yet still the same. You'll get what I mean when you check it out. That's usually thanks to the guitarist, who is exceptionally well in this band! But don't get me wrong... every member of this band plays their part perfectly. Their drummer is pretty amazing too. This band is too good for words!

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 7 - Blinded Eye

In this song they go all Weezerish and really show a wide range of 90's influence. I am now convinced this is the best 90's band that never existed in the 90's. I have really enjoyed every track on this album so far and with only 3 tracks to go, i'd say at this point it's safe to say that everyone is going to be just as wonderful as the rest. I am literally blown away by this album. I did not expect this at all!

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 8 - For You The Moon

Sitting here listening to this album, I really never expected it to be as good as it is. Like I said to begin with, I think i've heard of them, but I wasn't sure. I am completely impressed with this album though. This song, is a little slower than the rest, but it's nevertheless just as good as the rest of this perfect album. The guitar solo in this song is reminescient of Incubus' "A Crow Left Of The Murder" album. I see this band broke up briefly only to reassemble to release this masterpiece. I have to listen to their older albums now, because this band is ridiculously amazing.

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - Promise Everything

This song is by far my favorite one! I love the quiet subtlety of the singers voice and powerful raw energy he brings when he decides to scream the chorus. Whoever recorded this album for them did a wonderful job with the mixes. They are all FLAWLESS and wonderfully sound. Definitely my favorite album of 2016 so far.

5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 10 - Halo

The last track on this album is titled, "Halo". It leaves a lingering overtone of suspense and mystery to this album. It leaves you wanting more. I would love to hear more tracks on this album and perhaps there are some b-sides hanging around somewhere. I will do my best to get those. This band has definitely stolen my attention.

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overall - 41/50

Hands down, best album of January and possibly of 2016. I will be listening to this album for years to come. I came in not knowing what to expect and I leave having a new favorite album to add to my list. This ALBUM is AMAZING! Willowbee out.

(2016) Megadeth - Dystopia

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

So I was looking at my sources website for an album to review this week and I was going to do the new Panic At The Disco album. It was ok, but then I checked one last time and found out that Megadeth's Dystopia had just leaked. Now, I figured, it had been awhile since I heard one of their albums and it would be nice to hear something from them. The last album I heard from them had the song "Crush Em" on it and it turned me off so much that I haven't listened to anything until now. THIS album was EXTREMELY hard to get my hands on, but as always, I GOT IT! So here we go... I present to you, Megadeth's, "Dystopia".

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - The Threat Is Real

My first impression of this album, comes from the cover artwork. IT IS AWESOME! That aside, the first track starts of with what appears to be an arabian woman singing. That is immediately followed by sheer awesomeness! You can definitely hear that Mr. Mustaine has aged. That doesn't however take anything away from how great he is as a musician. There is lots of shredding on this track and it sets a great tone for what should be a great album from an all-time great band! I haven't heard anything this good from them in a long time. Needless to say, I am excited!

Track 2 - Dystopia

This is easily my favorite track so far. The intro almost sounds like a heavy metal version of something from an old NES game like "Ninja Gaiden". It has a super pumpy, driving kinda feel to it. This is setting up to be an epic album. His lyrics thus far have been great at complementing the album's name. He really has a great grasp on what is going on in the world today. There is a ton of shredding on this album! The outro for this song is AMAZING! I would say they sound a LOT like "Avenged Sevenfold" but it actually is the other way around. Fans of them will absolutely LOVE this album. It has been great so far!

Track 3 - Fatal Illusion

This is the first song that i'm somewhat disappointed in. It just feels different than the other songs. The bass line towards the beginning is fucking awesome though! Other than that though, this song isn't near as good as the first 2 songs were. I'm not as impressed. This is the kind of song that made me quit listening to them in the first place. This one sounds like it was rushed. Not horrible, but not as good.

2.5/5

Track 4 - Death From Within

The intro is interesting so far. This song sounds a little better than the previous but it seems like this album could take a turn for the worst quickly. It's too much of the same and the background vocals on the chorus just don't do it for me. The guitar solo however, saves this song from being another sub-par track. The guitars on this album have been wonderful so far.

Track 5 - Bullet To The Brain

This song starts with a very relaxing acoustic guitar riff. That is very short-lived though. When the song comes thundering in, it demands attention and brings them back on track! I am happy this one doesn't suck. After the last 2 tracks, I was really starting to doubt them again. This song is pretty good and like Meatloaf said, 3/5 ain't bad, or was that another fraction?

3.5/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - Post American World

This song took a couple of listens to completely absorb just how amazingly epic it is. This almost sounds like something from COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION!!! This song really made me happy. This is easily the BEST track so far on this album! Just the lyric, "If you don't like where we're going, then you won't like what's coming next". Says something about the world we're living in today and the road that all of us are going down without even knowing it. THIS SONG IS AMAZING! THE BEST SONG OF 2016 SO FAR! PERIOD.

5/5

Track 7 - Poisonous Shadows

Another acoustic laced intro that is short lived. This song is pretty damn good. It's not the last track, but it holds it's own just fine. The guitar work on this album has been simply beautiful! The chorus on this track is great! I really am beginning to love this album. Aside from the two dud songs this album has been as EPIC as I expected it to be.

Track 8 - Conquer Or Die

OMFG. THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE MEGADETH SONG. It makes me feel like i'm ten years old all over again and playing Castlevania 2 on the NES with my brother blaring Megadeth in the other room! This is one of the most EPIC instrumental songs i've ever heard! It has a very strong tinge of "Simon Belmont" to it and if you know what i'm talking about then you deserve a, "hell yeah"! This album is quickly rivaling, "Countdown To Extinction". Yeah, I said it.

5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - Lying In State

This album is easily going to get 4 out of 5 star reviews across the board. I have really enjoyed listening to and reviewing it so far. This song is no exception. "Hell is turning itself inside out, to lead his path of the fears and we deliberately take a step, one foot closer to the grave". Dave's lyrics on this album have really chimed in to what is going on in the world today. He really hit the nail on the head this time.

Track 10 - The Emperor

This song has a loud, thumping intro. They really outdid themselves on this album. They should call it quits after this cause it's going to be hard to match the success they should achieve with this album. If this is their "swan song" album than they have left us with a clear cut warning to get ready for the inevitable. This album fucking ROCKS.

4/5

Track 11 - Foreign Policy (Fear Cover)

The last song they put on this album was a cover from a band called, "Fear". I have never heard of them so momentarily I am listening to their version before I check out Megadeth's version so I have a basis for comparison. It's not bad, very early 80's punk. Now onto the Megadeth cover of it... Definitely wayyyyy heavier than Fears version of it. Not nearly as punk. But equally as good! A good choice for them to close out an EPIC album with. This album falls just a hair under "Countdown To Extinction" as my favorite Megadeth album.

Overall - 43/55

So far, this is EASILY the best album i've reviewed this year. An INSTANT classic, this will be a contender for rock album of the year. It's dark and gloomy with a side of thrash. I loved it! Willowbee out.

(2016) Walking With Giants - World's Unknown

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

I've always heard of this band, but never have taken the time to check them out. Well, today is that day! I've been listening to this album for a week now and it really starts to grow on you. But let's just get into it, track by track!
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 1 - World's Unknown (Part 1)

If this intro is any sign of what's to come, then holy shit! I am hooked! I'm always a sucker for pianos and their dreary guitar lingering in the background makes it all the more excellent. I expect big things from this album based on this intro.

4/5

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 2 - Broken Truth

I'll be honest. I expected this band to be a lot more darker based on that intro. I kinda feel like i'm at church watching a christian band. They're not bad at all, the singer just gives off that kind of "worshippy" vibe. That and the lack of darkness aside, it's actually pretty good. The band sounds tight and well rehearsed. I am digging them. This is definitely the best album i've heard this year so far.

3.5/5

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 3 - Back To Life

This band really reminds me of the band, "The Butterfly Effect". I really wish they were a tad bit heavier. I feel like if I blasted this in my car, I might be embarassed if someone pulled up next to me. I like them, but I don't love them. Their guitarist is pretty good. So far this is the weakest track.

2.5/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 4 - Bound

More of the same, this band likes to play it safe. I really expected a lot more from this album after that intro. Unfortunately, this is more like the band your best friends kid sister listens to. There's just still not enough to consider me a fan yet. Not bad, but not my cup of tea.

2.5/5

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 5 - Heavy Hand

I really, really like this song. This may be the best track on this album! A little heavier than the rest and it most DEFINITELY makes a difference. It's faster paced, more crunchy and just overall more enjoyable than the rest of this album has been. This song kicks ass. I wouldn't be embarassed at all listening to this one.

4/5

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 6 - Endless Road

This song is starting off pretty good, so maybe they can still redeem themselves. It really does seem like the heavier the guitarist is playing the better the singer sounds. I would LOVE to hear this band turn up that aspect tenfold. Still nothing groundbreaking though.

3.5/5

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 7 - The Now

I really want to like this band. But they just seem to slow for me. When I decided to review them, they were labeled "progressive rock" and so far, I still have yet to hear anything like that besides the intro. This is more like "easy listening, soft rock with a tinge of hard rock guitars". I want you to listen to this, but then again... maybe you should start with track 5 first.

2.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 8 - Guilty One

This vocalist sounds like Richard Marx leading a soft rock band. He almost sounds out of place. You can really tell the guitarist wants to play so much heavier. I really love their guitarist. His soloing is always on point and makes the songs so much better. This one is a little better.

3/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 9 - Different Voice

I give this band a C. I really kind of secretly like them but I want them to be heavier. I can hear faint tinges in this song of what they could do, but neglect to, either because it's not them or because they feel like they can't pull it off. This song is actually one of the better tracks on it. The band is EXCELLENT on this track! The singer isn't so bad either.

3.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 10 - Solid Ground

I am starting to like this band a little more. They're not going to be a favorite anytime soon. But with songs like this, they could grow on you pretty quick. It's not too bad though. Kinda soft, kinda hard, the perfect band for your brothers kid sister. Haha.

2.5/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Track 11 - Worlds Unknown (Part 2)

The outro is just a continuation of the excellent intro. I still wish they would have been heavier and darker. But nevertheless, not too bad in my opinion.

4/5

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overall - 35.5/55

So overall, if you are looking for something dark, progressive or heavy, this is not the band for you. However, if soft, Richard Marxish slightly distorted guitars are your thing, then this is right up your alley. For me. It's a car illegally parked in that alley. Not too bad, but not the album of the year. I actually just looked them up on google to find that there are members from Sevendust and Alter Bridge on this album. Kinda neat, had no clue about that. Still doesn't change the fact about your brothers kid sister loving them. Hey isn't Alter Bridge that same way? Haha. Once again, this has been fun. Willowbee out.
